Goodwin increases staff training

Canberra’s aged care accommodation and related services’ provider, Goodwin Aged Care Services, is increasing opportunities for staff to attain workforce qualifications through recently secured Aged Care Workforce Vocational & Educational Training Program (ACWVET) training opportunities.

Goodwin chief executive, Chris Lamont, said this opportunity will provide greater opportunities for career growth in aged care and will help provide the skilled and qualified workforce required for the aged care sector.

“The provision of quality care for an ageing population relies on a progressive and qualified workforce. We are constantly looking for partnerships that expand the training opportunities for our staff.

“Advancements in electronic care planning and monitoring, combined with higher clinical care requirements mean that a tailored and more comprehensive approach to training is required,” Mr Lamont said.

Goodwin has partnered with the National College Australia and Key Two Learning to roll out 54 Certified Courses and 26 Skills Set courses to Goodwin’s care workforce by March next year.

“These new nationally recognised courses will provide more opportunities for our workforce to receive training designed to improve their skills and specialisation.  Importantly, initiatives such as these will help provide the workforce desperately needed for the aged care sector,” Mr Lamont said.

Qualifications and courses are available to Goodwin residential carers and in home community carers covering a range of Cert III and Cert IV competencies, Enrolled Nursing courses and Diplomas of Service Coordination are also available.
